Alexander Ghent
Alexander Ghent, known as Sandy to friends and family, studied Industrial Design at the University of New South Wales in Sydney, Australia, graduating with an Honours degree in 2019. In the same year, his thesis project Eddy has won an Australian Good Design Award, and been amongst the international top 20 in the James Dyson Award.
Sandy loves to solve complex problems with a mix of great design and new technology and is also excited about the potential of computer-aided design and local manufacturing solutions such as 3D printing.
"Industrial Design is a way of making great solutions more accessible, sustainable and, ultimately, more able to change people's lives in a positive way - I love being part of that."
He has been embracing this philosophy and developing his skills in industrial design for the past two years at Electrolux Australia. The second largest appliance manufacturer in the world has exposed him to a range of challenging projects and a diverse, experienced design team to learn from.
When not thinking about design, Sandy can be found enjoying his bike, drone photography, board games and martial arts. He still brings out the Lego collection to work on some ideas.
